Bio
In the sixth grade, I entered a writing competition on a whim and I won! As one of the writers selected, I had the amazing opportunity to participate in the Young Writer's Studio at the University of Iowa. I was accepted into the program the next year as well, but it would take many years before I learned the importance of the writing program.
I followed a different passion after high school and went to college for architecture. I loved working in architecture and engineering, and I believe it gives me a unique perspective when it comes to technical writing. But, when I was 26, I decided it was time to follow my true passion: writing. First, I went to UNCW to get my Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing; and second, I went back a couple of years later to get my Master's degree in Professional and Technical Communication from ECU. In addition to the writing classes, I took literature classes every chance I got, which is where I fell in love with Flannery O'Connor and learned how prestigious the writing program at Iowa really is.

So, for the past 12 years, I have been a technical writer/editor and manager, for three different companies: GIS Department for the military, educational software that allows schools to run their cafeteria and front office, and logistics software so large companies can manage their supply chains. Each one is different and has allowed me to use and grow my knowledge and skills.
